EYFS PSED intervention programme – Tilly and the Journey of Me week 5: The Land of Togetherness

This EYFS PSED intervention programme resource provides Week 5 of Tilly and the Journey of Me, a six-week FLIP intervention unit designed to support children who require additional help with Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED).

Across the full six-week unit, children take part in short, structured intervention sessions designed to support self-regulation, emotional development and social skills. The aim is to strengthen the foundations children need to build positive relationships, manage their emotions and engage more fully in learning.

This resource provides the complete fifth week of the intervention, with five short PSED sessions based around Tilly’s visit to the Land of Togetherness. This week focuses particularly on helping children take turns, collaborate, share resources and use language to negotiate with others.

What does Week 5 cover?

The five PSED sessions focus on:

  • Pass the smile – showing others that we care, are ready to listen and are thinking about them.
  • Bubbles – practising patience, turn-taking and encouraging others while sharing a resource.
  • Together train – working as a group, sharing space and using appropriate language to join in.
  • Collaborative colouring – working with a partner to share resources, listen to one another and negotiate fairly.
  • Puzzles – working together, sharing equipment and cooperating to complete a shared task.

Using Week 5 as part of the EYFS PSED intervention programme

Tilly and the Journey of Me is a structured six-week EYFS PSED intervention programme, rather than a collection of standalone activities. Practitioners should follow the planned learning sequence while using professional judgement to adapt the pace, questioning, modelling, thinking time and level of support for individual children.

Each session is designed to take a maximum of 10 minutes and can be delivered 1:1, in pairs or in a small group. Practitioners can record observations using the Practitioner Notes and use these alongside the Identification and Progression Toolkit to monitor progress and plan appropriate next steps.

This week forms part of the full Tilly and the Journey of Me six-week intervention unit and the wider FLIP Foundations for Learning Intervention Programme.
