Help Reception children secure the ‘f’ grapheme and /f/ phoneme while learning to form the letter accurately with these letter ‘f’ Phase 2 phonics and letter formation worksheets. The pack combines grapheme recognition, initial-sound activities and early reading with structured tracing and handwriting practice, so children repeatedly connect the sound /f/ with the letter they see and write.

Across the 7-page letter ‘f’ worksheet pack, children begin by finger-tracing a large lowercase ‘f’ and following the correct formation sequence. They then trace ‘f’ in different sizes and practise the letter on handwriting lines, developing the pencil control and movement needed for increasingly accurate formation.

Phonics activities encourage children to find ‘f’ amongst other graphemes, identify pictures beginning with /f/ and spot the letter within simple text. The final consolidation sheet brings together several skills, with children identifying initial /f/, tracing lowercase and uppercase letters, tracing words such as fun, fast, finger and cuff, and recognising ‘f’ amongst other letters.

The ‘f’ grapheme and /f/ phoneme are introduced during Phase 2 phonics. Use these letter ‘f’ worksheets after the grapheme has been taught to consolidate learning, during phonics and handwriting sessions, as an adult-led Reception activity, for independent practice, within continuous provision or for children who need extra practice with grapheme recognition and letter formation.
