Support children as they learn to recognise, read and write the ‘e’ grapheme with these letter ‘e’ Phase 2 phonics and letter formation worksheets for Reception. Combining phonics activities with structured tracing and handwriting practice, the pack helps children connect the /e/ phoneme they hear with the grapheme they see and form.

The 7-page letter ‘e’ worksheet pack begins with a large finger-tracing activity showing the correct formation movement. Children then trace ‘e’ in a range of sizes before progressing to repeated practice on handwriting lines, helping them develop the control and familiarity needed to form the letter more confidently.

Phonics activities extend the learning beyond handwriting. Children find ‘e’ amongst other graphemes, identify pictures beginning with /e/ and spot the letter within simple text. The final consolidation sheet combines initial-sound work, lowercase and uppercase letter tracing, grapheme recognition and word tracing with words including end, empty, eleven and sell.

The ‘e’ grapheme and /e/ phoneme are introduced during Phase 2 phonics. Use these letter ‘e’ worksheets to consolidate the grapheme after it has been taught, during Reception phonics or handwriting sessions, as an adult-led focus activity, for independent practice, within continuous provision or for additional support with letter recognition and formation.
