2021 DfE Reading Framework Resources
Help children build their vocabulary and understanding of the meaning of words at the same time as developing turn taking skills and interacting with others using our I Spy Vocabulary Activity to Support the Delivery of the 2021 Reading Framework. Children can play this game with an adult, or in pairs in your classroom or setting. Works well as a “send home” activities for parents too.
How to play
– Cut out the category cards and place upside down in a pile.
– The child takes a card and you/they read it out.
– They spot all the pictures that fit that category.
– They can colour in (black/white version) or circle (colour version) each of the pictures they find that match the description.
The Reading Framework guidance is for primary schools, initial teacher training (ITT) partnerships, specialist provision and others in England. It focuses on the early stages of teaching reading. Its key objective is to help schools meet their expectations around early reading as set out in the national curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. It also aligns with Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework.
