Primary Gaeilge phonics resources

Use these Fónaic Flash Cards | Rebecca The Irish Teacher Range as an introduction, revision or a fun filler to phonics in Gaeilge.

This is something that the children need a lot of exposure to in order for them to understand the difference between letters with and without a fada.

This activity can be used in many ways, from creating purposeful posters for the children to refer to as a cut and paste activity.

Or it can be done as a musical chairs style challenge too. Ask children to cut up the picture cards. Play a song, when the song stops, children have to pick up an image and stick it to the corresponding sound. Keep going until all images are in the correct place.

There is an option to print the picture cards with or without the words written on them to add an element of challenge and listening skills.

There is also a blank template that can be printed to extend the children to adding their own words with the corresponding sounds.
