EYFS Morning Starter Jobs Week 3
Week 3 of our EYFS Morning Starter Jobs series has a strong focus on early literacy and number structure, with the added excitement of a pirate theme. These Reception morning activities are designed to keep children engaged and purposeful during arrival time, while continuing to build independence and fine motor control.
The format is familiar: 5 groups rotate through different activities across the week so that by Friday, all pupils have completed each one. This week’s morning jobs include:
- Fine motor: threading autumn lacing cards for coordination and control.
- Maths: Numicon matching activity to secure early number recognition and structure.
- Mark making: pirate-themed dot-to-dot sheets to practise sequencing, pencil grip and pattern following.
- Phonics: Phase 2 Set 1 activity mats introducing initial sounds and blending skills.
- Scissors: cutting thin strips of card to strengthen cutting accuracy.
These Reception morning starter activities combine phonics, maths and handwriting practice with engaging themes like autumn and pirates. They are perfect for keeping children motivated while embedding key skills. Explore more packs in our EYFS Morning Starter Activities category or start a free trial to access the full series.
