Reception Maths Summer Week 7: Sharing and Grouping
Reception Maths Summer Week 7: Sharing and Grouping
Build confidence with early division through engaging Reception sharing activities and practical grouping tasks. In Week 7 of our EYFS maths scheme, pupils explore the concepts of sharing, doubling, and identifying odd and even numbers through hands-on learning, games and small group work.
This unit supports pupils in developing a deeper understanding of number patterns, early multiplication and division skills, and how quantities can be grouped or shared equally. The focus is on using concrete resources and child-friendly contexts to make abstract ideas meaningful and accessible.
Children will:
- Practise fair and unfair sharing with everyday objects
- Explore odd and even numbers by trying to group items into two equal parts
- Learn to double numbers using counters, pictures and memory recall
- Describe and compare groups using terms like same, more and fewer
This pack includes a detailed lesson plan, Reception sharing and grouping PowerPoint, and differentiated EYFS worksheets linked to the White Rose small steps. You’ll also find ideas for continuous provision and group tasks to help embed learning across your setting.
