Nursery maths lesson pack: Exploring position and routes | Spring term

Support early spatial awareness with this nursery maths lesson pack on exploring position and routes, aligned with the EYFS maths framework and White Rose progression. Part of the Spring term scheme, this unit helps the children use positional language such as under, over, between and through through movement, stories and small-world play.

Across the six small steps, the children explore position and direction through practical activities. They move through simple obstacle courses, follow routes in small-world scenes and describe where objects are placed using everyday language.

Through structured teaching and purposeful play, the children develop confidence in using positional vocabulary and begin to understand how objects and people move in space.
