What is Elf on the Shelf?
The idea behind Elf on the Shelf is that an elf is sitting watching everyone in the run up to Christmas, and then returns to the North Pole each night to report in to Santa. When he/she returns, sometimes they run into mischief and mishaps. Children love seeing what the elf has been up to each morning when they wake up or come into school.
