What is Elf on the Shelf and how does it work?

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas tradition whereby an elf keeps a close eye on children, to report back to Santa in the run up to Christmas. Each evening, the elf does a different activity, and when the children wake up, they’ll find the elf in a different place or position in the house. You can also use this concept in your classroom by having Elf on the Shelf activities and your very own elf, watching over the class in the weeks ahead of Christmas.

Elf on the Shelf classroom ideas

Start off with our Elf on the Shelf posters, ideal for your classroom window to get everyone in the Christmas spirit, and signal to your children that you’re taking part in Elf on the Shelf this year. Or make a display of it with our Elf on the Shelf display banners – just pop your elf underneath. Encourage your children to write about, or draw their own elf with our Elf on the Shelf elfie frames – brilliant! Great for provision, our Elf on the Shelf colouring pages are a great way in for children who are new to the concept of Elf on the Shelf.
