News and Views

News and Views is a collection of ready-to-use primary assemblies for whole-school assemblies, class assemblies, PSHE, oracy and classroom discussion. Each assembly takes a current story, real-world issue or big question and gives you everything you need to explore it with pupils, including launchable slides, discussion and debate opportunities, voting, teacher guidance and follow-up activities.

A new assembly is added every week, alongside a growing collection of use-anytime assemblies. Designed for EYFS through to KS2, News and Views helps pupils understand the wider world, consider different viewpoints and develop pupil voice, oracy and critical thinking, with meaningful links to British Values, SMSC and personal development.

Primary assembly resources for EYFS, KS1 and KS2

News and Views gives teachers ready-to-use assemblies for exploring current affairs, real-world issues and thought-provoking questions with pupils. Each assembly provides a structured way to introduce the issue, build understanding and encourage meaningful discussion.

News and Views can be used across the primary age range for whole-school assemblies, class assemblies, PSHE lessons, oracy sessions and classroom discussions. Pupils are encouraged to consider different viewpoints, explain their reasoning, listen respectfully and take part in discussion, voting and debate.

The assemblies also provide regular opportunities to develop oracy, pupil voice and critical thinking, while making relevant connections with fundamental British Values, PSHE, SMSC, citizenship and personal development.

A new News and Views assembly is added every week, alongside a growing collection of use-anytime assemblies available throughout the year.
