EYFS Morning Starter Activities: Spring Term

EYFS Morning Starter Activities: Spring Term

Our EYFS Morning Starter Activities for the Spring term build on the routines established in Autumn, helping Reception children work with increasing independence while continuing to practise early phonics, mark-making, early maths and fine motor skills.

Spring sets include five daily morning jobs each week, with themes that keep the children interested across the term, including Burns Night, Pancake Day, life cycles, dinosaurs, wellbeing and Easter.

Spring term morning jobs for Reception

By the Spring term, many Reception children are ready to take on a little more challenge and show more independence. These Spring term EYFS morning starter activities provide a calm, consistent start to the day, while gradually extending early skills through short, manageable morning jobs.

Each pack includes five rotating daily activities linked to Spring themes and events, giving you a predictable routine alongside regular opportunities to observe and track progress.

  • Early phonics and mark-making tasks that support sentence work and early writing behaviours
  • Early maths activities that develop number sense and simple reasoning
  • Fine motor challenges to build control, stamina and writing readiness
  • Seasonal themes such as life cycles, dinosaurs, wellbeing, Burns Night, Pancake Day and Easter
  • Short independent tasks that help the children build confidence with routines
