Year 6 Maths Scheme

Year 6 Maths Scheme of Work – Autumn to Summer Planning

Our Year 6 maths scheme is built around a small steps approach and aligned with the White Rose progression, fully meeting National Curriculum objectives for upper Key Stage 2.

Each lesson is clearly structured with a detailed plan, an interactive presentation to support teacher modelling, and a pupil worksheet with full answers. To stretch confident learners, additional tasks focus on problem-solving, reasoning and greater depth understanding.

At the end of every block, you’ll find a summative assessment closely matched to the format of Key Stage 2 SATs, along with a clear mark scheme to support teacher judgment.

We’ve also included knowledge organisers and revision mats to encourage regular recap and build long-term understanding. These support pupils in reviewing key topics and breaking down tricky concepts into manageable parts they can revisit independently.

Our Year 6 maths planning is ideal for whole-class teaching, targeted group work or catch-up sessions. It supports curriculum coverage while reducing teacher workload and helping schools maintain consistency across year groups.

Year 6 maths scheme of work aligned with the White Rose small steps

Our Year 6 maths scheme of work supports children as they consolidate key learning in the final year of Key Stage 2. With full coverage of place value, all four operations, fractions and converting units, each unit follows the White Rose small steps to build fluency, reasoning and SATs readiness.

This carefully sequenced planning helps teachers present challenging concepts using visual representations, varied fluency questions and differentiated activities. Whether you’re revisiting core skills or developing greater depth, the resources provide a consistent structure for effective maths teaching.
