Year 5 Spring Block 3: Decimals and Percentages

Spring Block 3: Decimals and percentages (Year 5)

This Year 5 decimals and percentages unit develops pupils’ understanding of decimal numbers, thousandths, rounding and percentage equivalence. Aligned with White Rose Maths and the Year 5 National Curriculum, the block helps pupils build confidence when reading, writing, comparing and calculating with decimals and percentages.

Across the unit, pupils explore decimals to three decimal places, recognise thousandths as fractions and decimals, compare and order decimal numbers, round decimals and investigate the relationships between fractions, decimals and percentages. The sequence develops place value understanding while strengthening reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Resources are organised into comprehensive lesson packs containing detailed lesson plans, interactive teaching slides, differentiated worksheets and supporting activities. Assessment materials, revision resources and knowledge organisers are included to support progression and secure understanding throughout the block.
