Year 5 Maths Spring Block 1 focuses on multiplication and division using formal written methods with larger numbers. Aligned with the Year 5 National Curriculum and White Rose Maths progression, pupils develop long multiplication and short division before applying these methods to increasingly complex problems.
Across the block, pupils multiply numbers up to four digits by one- and two-digit numbers, divide up to four-digit numbers by one-digit numbers and interpret remainders. They also choose efficient methods and solve multiplication and division problems.
