The spring term covers multiplication and division, fractions, decimals and percentages, perimeter and area, and statistics. Pupils develop confidence with formal written methods, fraction calculations, decimal place value, measurement and data handling while strengthening fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Pupils multiply and divide larger numbers using formal written methods, calculate with fractions, explore decimals and percentages, solve perimeter and area problems and interpret information presented in line graphs, tables, two-way tables and timetables. These topics strengthen mathematical understanding while preparing pupils for the more advanced concepts introduced later in Year 5 and Year 6.
