Year 5 Maths Autumn Block 3 focuses on multiplication and division, developing pupils’ understanding of factors, multiples, prime numbers, square numbers and cube numbers. Aligned with the Year 5 National Curriculum and White Rose Maths progression, pupils also use place value to multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1,000.
Across the block, pupils identify multiples, common multiples, factors and common factors before exploring prime, square and cube numbers. They then apply place value knowledge when multiplying and dividing by powers of 10.
