Year 5 Maths Scheme

Year 5 Maths Scheme of Work – KS2 Maths Planning

The Year 5 and 6 Maths is based upon a small steps approach in line with the White Rose materials and precisely matches the National Curriculum objectives.

Each week, there is a set of detailed lesson plans and an interactive presentation to enable teachers to effectively model the learning. Each lesson comes with a worksheet for independent work and a full answer sheet. An additional problem-solving activity challenges the children to use and apply their knowledge and develop a greater depth of understanding.

Each block of work includes a summative assessment, mirroring the style of Key Stage 2 SATs with a clear mark scheme.

Revision mats and knowledge organisers are provided to support continuous review and help children master essential mathematical concepts. These are designed to aid retention and build confidence, while breaking down complex topics into easily digestible chunks, empowering children to independently revisit and solidify their understandingOur Year 5 maths scheme of work provides structured, step-by-step planning that follows the White Rose small steps. Each unit builds on earlier learning, supporting pupils as they deepen their fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills across upper KS2.

As the newest addition to our EYFS to Year 6 maths scheme, this planning offers a consistent, trusted approach to National Curriculum delivery. Ideal for schools or teachers looking to strengthen progression and reduce teacher workload.

Our Year 5 maths scheme of work supports progression across upper Key Stage 2. Covering place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and fractions, each unit follows the White Rose small steps to help pupils build fluency and confidence.

This structured approach helps teachers break down complex concepts with visual models, clear reasoning questions and differentiated worksheets. Whether you’re teaching mixed ability groups or aiming to stretch greater depth pupils, our planning supports consistency and high standards in maths teaching.
