Year 2 Maths Summer Block 3 focuses on telling the time, helping pupils read and write times on analogue clocks and solve problems involving duration. Aligned with the Year 2 National Curriculum and White Rose Maths progression, pupils develop from o’clock and half past to quarter past, quarter to and telling the time to five minutes.
Across the block, pupils draw hands on clock faces, learn the number of minutes in an hour and hours in a day, and find and compare durations of time. Practical activities help pupils apply their understanding of time in familiar contexts.

The block includes Year 2 time worksheets, teaching slides and practical clock activities covering o’clock, half past, quarter past, quarter to and telling the time to 5 minutes. Pupils practise reading clock faces, drawing the hands on analogue clocks and using their knowledge of minutes and hours.
In Year 2, pupils learn to tell and write the time to five minutes, including quarter past and quarter to, and know there are 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day. They also compare and sequence intervals of time and solve problems involving duration of time.
