Year 5 and 6 Mixed Age Geography – Trading Across the Globe (Global Trade Study)

Support mixed-age geography teaching with this Year 5 and 6 mixed age geography block exploring global trade and economic activity. Designed for combined Year 5 and Year 6 classes, this unit forms part of our mixed age geography scheme of work for upper KS2.

Part of Glorious Geography, which has been Highly Commended by the Geographical Association, the lessons follow the same high-quality structure as our single-age units but are organised so mixed-age classes can follow the full geography curriculum without repeating topics.

How to use the Year 5 and 6 mixed-age Geography cycle

For schools teaching mixed age classes, the Year 5 and Year 6 geography units can be organised into a two-year cycle.

In the first year of the cycle, pupils follow the Cycle A geography blocks. In the second year, pupils follow the Cycle B blocks of lessons. This ensures that pupils experience the full geography curriculum without repeating the same blocks.
