Year 3 Geography Block 3

Year 3 Geography – UK Counties and Cities: What’s the Score?

This Year 3 geography unit introduces pupils to UK counties and cities, helping them develop locational knowledge and a clearer understanding of how the UK is organised. Aligned with the National Curriculum, pupils build map and atlas skills while exploring human and physical features of the UK.

Across six lessons, this Year 3 geography planning supports pupils in locating countries, counties and major cities, planning routes across the UK, and understanding how places are connected. Through the engaging context of sport, pupils apply geographical skills to real locations and begin to explore their own local area.

Part of our KS2 geography scheme of work, which was highly commended by the Geographical Association, this unit provides structured geography lesson plans for Year 3 with clear progression in key skills.
