Which Mrs Mactivity resources does the school use?

We primarily use the Mrs Mactivity SPaG Scheme for spelling and SPaG teaching across the school.

Why did Belmont Grosvenor School choose Mrs Mactivity?

We were impressed by the quality and range of resources available. The fact that the materials are created by teachers means they contain high-quality educational content whilst still being attractive and engaging for pupils.

The resources provide strong curriculum coverage while remaining practical and enjoyable to use in the classroom. This combination was a key reason why the school chose Mrs Mactivity.

What challenge was the school trying to solve?

Having access to high-quality spelling and SPaG resources, closely matched to end-of-year outcomes, has supported the development of the school’s whole-school strategy for spelling and SPaG teaching.

Having explicit teaching points, engaging activities and curriculum-aligned resources all in one place has helped teachers deliver consistent, high-quality lessons while saving valuable preparation time.

How easy was the scheme to implement?

Extremely easy.

What impact has the scheme had on teaching and learning?

Our children really enjoy the resources and activities. The content fits well alongside other schemes and units of work, making it easy for teachers to integrate spelling and SPaG teaching into the wider curriculum.

Engagement has increased in subject areas where this can often be a challenge. Pupils enjoy the activities and respond particularly well to the balance of support and challenge built into the scheme.

In the longer term, we expect to see continued improvements in attainment across all year groups as the scheme becomes further embedded throughout the school.

What do pupils like most about the scheme?

Pupils enjoy the way the activities are presented and the consistency in styling. The design supports learning without overshadowing the content or becoming a distraction.

They also appreciate the support and challenge provided by the activities, helping them feel successful while continuing to make progress.

What do teachers like most about Mrs Mactivity?

The website is easy to navigate and high-quality resources are quick to find. This means teachers can spend less time searching for materials and more time focusing on creativity, teaching and application.

Rather than creating resources from scratch, staff can access reliable, curriculum-aligned materials that support effective teaching while reducing workload.

Does Mrs Mactivity represent good value for money?

Yes. Mrs Mactivity provides outstanding value for money.

What would you say to other schools considering Mrs Mactivity?

If you would like to provide your teachers with high-quality resources that are regularly updated and improved, while giving pupils engaging learning opportunities closely matched to end-of-year expectations, then Mrs Mactivity is well worth considering.

Anything else you’d like to add?

One of the greatest strengths of Mrs Mactivity is that Heather, the founder, is a teacher herself. She understands the realities of working in education and the resources reflect that understanding. The company produces materials that support schools in a wide variety of ways.
